De-stress Through Cooking

Most people today are too busy to be bothered with cooking their own food. Home cooked meals have become a luxury while dining out has become a lifestyle. Unfortunately those who don’t cook fail to enjoy the benefits that cooking gives. Yes. Cooking can be immensely enjoyable. That is why despite my busy schedule I still find the time to cook my own meals. Whether I am eating alone or have friends over I enjoy cooking up different dishes at home. Why? Because cooking is one way for me to de-stress myself. When I am so caught up with the pressures of life I drop everything and go to the kitchen.

I remember the time when I had a deadline to meet. I was so stressed and I couldn’t think straight. I kept on making mistakes which I had to fix. It was taking me twice as long to do simple tasks. That’s why I decided to take a breather. So I called up a few friends and invited them over for lunch.

I hustled over to the kitchen and began preparing everything I would need. There are people who find cooking such a chore. But for me chopping up vegetables, putting in spices and tasting food while it is cooking is very relaxing. I quickly whipped up my signature dish – spicy tuna pasta and salad. My friends arrived and we had an enjoyable lunch. I went back to work afterwards but this time it was different. Because I had managed to de-stress I could do focus more and do more. In the end because I had taken the time to unwind I was able to accomplish my tasks well.

One benefit of cooking your own meals is that it allows you some respite from the daily grind of life. Whenever I’m in the kitchen time seems to slow down and I find myself relaxing. Cooking food from scratch allows you to slow down and enjoy each process. Instead of rushing from one thing to the next like you always do it gives you’re the opportunity to just take time for yourself to slow down. It may be time consuming and needs a lot of effort but in the end cooking can be a very rewarding past time.

Never miss out on the good stuff. Take it easy on yourself and don’t forget to take a breather. Do what you love and good things will follow. Perhaps you love to write, while looking at a feng shui fountain, solar fountains, or enjoying the presence of a mist fountain? Or to collect authentic items like stamps, glass vases and garden planters? Whatever it is you love to do, if you spend time doing it, will definitely give you a better mindset and a more relaxed body.
